But whenever I think Paul Epworth, I think 'The marshals are dead', one of my favorites, and would like Bloc Party to start gravitating back to that form.
What I meant with Jacknife Lee having less influence, is that AWITC sounds far more 'produced' than SA. I'm not saying that BP shouldn't evolve, but I would like them to remember their roots, which has gotten them this huge fanbase.
Can't remember who said it, but one of BP's members said that they were aiming for some middleground between SA and AWITC, kind of like the b-sides off AWITC. That sounded perfect in my ears!Kristoffernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-10543446527688921382008-07-08T12:56:00.000+01:002008-07-08T12:56:00.000+01:00Love it! A perfect fusion of "Hero" and "the Prayer" mixed with "believe" (chemical Brothers). God bless Bloc PartyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-8220727918342420362008-07-08T11:52:00.000+01:002008-07-08T11:52:00.000+01:00i really like it for the most part - dont really like the brass outro and the unnecessary falsetto near the end...but it's got a great beat and chrous (stuck in my head)...some great tension...would happily dance to this...be interesting to see whether Jacknife or Epworth produced this...i think it will grow on alot of folk..may not even appear on the 3rd album. also intrigued what the 7" b-side sounds like...Seannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-9103136956547648232008-07-08T10:38:00.000+01:002008-07-08T10:38:00.000+01:00Hmm. I like it but it no longer feels like a band. I think it has a really great feel and is fairly original for a commercial song... but it just sounds like a solo artist. If they had recorded it with real instruments I think they would have got it spot on.

They should just have a side project where they do all this dance stuff and keep the old bloc party sound for people like us. oh well :(Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-49080900604884701102008-07-08T01:52:00.000+01:002008-07-08T01:52:00.000+01:00I'm very disappointed... I severely miss the bloc party I fell in love with. I was excited for their new album, but after hearing Mercury, I have no hope for Bloc Party's return to the urgent, jittery dancepunk that made them great. Very disappointing...Bradgersnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-8586089995211874972008-07-07T22:24:00.000+01:002008-07-07T22:24:00.000+01:00I don't think turn to dance is Jacknife's doing...he's usually a straight rock producer...Weekend wasn't really that "dancy" and it was all him

From the NME interview it sounds like it's Kele who likes the dancier sound

as for the single...very good, but not their best, so I'd put it around Tulips and Little Thoughtsjwright777http://www.blogger.com/profile/03583819845632611867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-30480759443897087582008-07-07T21:50:00.000+01:002008-07-07T21:50:00.000+01:00I have dire concerns for this upcomming album. While they started out heavy on the punk in their dancepunk music, they slowly moved towards the dance part of that word. The brass section reminds me of Madonna's '4 minutes', which isn't a compliment! Really hope they tone down Jacknife Lee and get Paul Epworth some more attention. Keeping my fingers crossed for the new record!Kristoffernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-68199286498618719022008-07-07T21:24:00.000+01:002008-07-07T21:24:00.000+01:00It's a bit "too electronic" for me, it reminds me their track "flux" ... Anyway that's not bad and I cannot wait for the album to be released!!SupaCednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-42710583819434056952008-07-07T21:06:00.000+01:002008-07-07T21:06:00.000+01:00bit dissapointed that russell cant be heard much if hes actually playing, wheres the riffs!!!! however its obviously gordy owning on the brass|_|noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-46917018117552050302008-07-07T21:04:00.000+01:002008-07-07T21:04:00.000+01:00we've got one up on our blogTaylorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03979655920016426268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-60582185240615000892008-07-07T21:02:00.000+01:002008-07-07T21:02:00.000+01:00absolute tunesteeeeeeenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-24025306785843221142008-07-07T20:39:00.001+01:002008-07-07T20:39:00.001+01:00plus new website and the video, very nice!akthe13thnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-83248323123642950192008-07-07T20:39:00.000+01:002008-07-07T20:39:00.000+01:00you have a rip? any way you could link us to it? pretty pleaseHammondnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17621507.post-46153956646460316292008-07-07T20:37:00.000+01:002008-07-07T20:37:00.000+01:00Got a rip already! sounds so different, not quite sure what to think yet, would like a guitar riff but hey cant complain too much, a very big tune!
