Design the 'Blog Party' logo!
As you may have noticed, I recently created a new logo for 'Blog Party'. However, due to my shockingly bad graphics skills and the high quality of the 'This Modern Art' entries, I thought I'd ask you guys to submit your own logo designs. I'll showcase my favourites on this blog, and the best one will become the official 'Blog Party' logo. The specifications of the logo are:- It must contain only the blocparty.net colours: white (#ffffff), grey (#999999) and green (#006600).
- It must contain the 'Blog Party.' title in the Gill Sans MT font. (Remember the full-stop!)
- It must be 675 pixels wide and 145 pixels high.
Apart from these restrictions, you're free to take any approach you like in designing the logo. Feel free to use any images from the blocparty.net gallery.
Please send any designs to james@blocparty.net in gif format. Thanks!

Last night's fanclub show at KOKO
Bloc Party played their final gig of the year last night at Camden KOKO, a very plush venue that houses the biggest mirrorball known to man! Those of us lucky enough to get hold of tickets were treated to an awesome show and a rare performance of some old b-sides. The full setlist was:
'The Marshals Are Dead'
'Positive Tension'
'Banquet'
'Skeleton' (!)
'This Modern Love'
'The Present'
'Staying Fat' (!)
'She's Hearing Voices'
'So Here We Are'
'Like Eating Glass'
'Two More Years'
'Helicopter'
Encore:
'Tulips'
'Always New Depths' (!!)
'Compliments'
'The Pioneers'
'The Answer'
If anyone took any good photos, let me know! :) I was too far back to get any decents ones, though I did take some cool 30-second videos which I could probably upload if people want me to. The guys will begin work on the second album after a well earned Christmas break.
(Edit) A couple of 30-second videos I took:
Positive Tension
Always New Depths (with a crowdsurf by 'Shady Lane' from the blocparty.net forum!)

More info on the Bloc Party / The Futureheads picture disc
For anyone who's been trying to get hold of the split 10" picture disc, I actually got the name of the magazine wrong, sorry! The vinyl comes with issue #2 of 'T Mag', which explores 'The Beat': rhythm’s significance as the back-bone and driving-force behind music. It's on sale now at Oxfam stores throughout Scotland, as well as Oxfam music specialist stores throughout the UK (with all proceeds to Oxfam). To find out more and enter a competition to win one of twenty copies of the magazine, go here. Thanks to Mark Taylor for pointing me in the right direction!Labels: Other_releases
Email Paul Epworth your questions!
Paul Epworth is the producer of Bloc Party's debut album, 'Silent Alarm'. He has made a name for himself by producing albums for the likes of Maximo Park, The Futureheads and The Rakes. Not content with monopolising the art-rock fraternity, Epworth also puts out remixes under his 'Phones' guise.
In his own words: "I always wanted to make exciting music. The stuff that made the hairs on your neck stand on end. That magic factor that could be about a song, a sound, a voice, a rhythm, or just silence.........space......"
Do you want to know how he created the marching sound at the start of 'Price of Gasoline'? Or maybe you'd like to find out his tips for getting into the music business?
Send any questions you have for Paul to james@blocparty.com and I'll choose the best ones to ask to him! I believe there'll be some kind of prize for the best question. The resulting Q&A session will appear on the official Bloc Party fan space, Marshals.

New Pantheon Award and NME Awards
'Silent Alarm' is one of the shortlisted albums for the New Pantheon Music Prize - an American award that replaces the prestigious Shortlist Music Prize. The New Pantheon will go to an album released in the United States between July 1st 2004 and October 30th 2005 that has yet to sell 500,000 copies at the time of nomination.A panel of 27, including Elton John, Elijah Wood, Beck and John Legend, will decide on the winner. The rather long list of initial nominees will be reduced to 10 finalists and the winner will be announced at a celebratory concert taking place in Los Angeles on February 6th 2006. You can now also submit your nominations for the winners of the NME Awards 2006. Head over to the NME microsite...
